Joe B. Lanter, 67, Richmond and formerly of Paris, an employee of the Commonwealth of Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services, died Thursday, July 30, 2015 at Hospice Compassionate Care Center, Richmond. He was born December 1, 1947 in Paris, son of the late Ray Batson and Ruby Howard Lanter. Joe B. was a 1965 graduate of Paris High, received his Bachelor's Degree from Eastern Kentucky University, was a member of First Baptist Church, Paris, and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Viet Nam War. He is survived by his wife, Sherrilynn Bradley Lanter, Richmond; a stepson, Glen "Jay" (Beth) Goldenberg, Lexington; two brothers, Randy (Debbie) Lanter, Lexington, Shawn Jacobs, Paris; a sister, Charla Jacobs, Paris; and four nieces, Taylor Gentry, Alyssa Lanter, Jensen Lanter, and Mandy Rogers. Funeral services will be 12:00 p.m. Monday, August 3, at Hinton-Turner Funeral Home by Rev. Whit Criswell with burial in Paris Cemetery. Visitation will be after 10:00 a.m. Monday.

Douglas Worthington

A wonderful and quirky sense of humor that always brought a smile to my face.  A kind person; a caring person about the class of '65.  For more than 40 years, the driving force behind most of our reunions.  A day didn't go by that he was thinking of members of the class.  I will miss him greatly.
